Join the Tuckahoe Tigers Swim Team

Being a member of the swim team is more than competitive swimming. It is all about having fun, making new and lasting friendships, staying in shape for your favorite sport, swimming on a relay team, showing off your special talent on Talent night, enjoying summer movies with the team, being a role model to younger swimmers, dancing at the Tuckahoe Ball, improving your swim strokes, eating at the pot lucks, being part of a team, fun Fridays, looking up to older swimmers, cheering – shouting – screaming, getting end of season trophies, striving for NVSL All-Stars, HAVING FUN.

Northern Virginia Swim League
Established in 1956, the NVSL is among the largest summer swim leagues in the United States. Over 14,000 swimmers compete on 104 teams in 18 divisions. Tuckahoe is one of the charter swim teams in the NVSL, and has always been one of the top pools. We need every eligible Tuckahoe member to come out this summer and join the Tigers and keep this tradition alive.

    PARENT VOLUNTEERS
    Volunteers are essential to meet the demands of a successful swim season. Volunteering is a great way to support your swimmer and to meet other swim team parents. The commitment and dedication of our parent volunteers has been wonderful. Many possibilities will be open, from working on the pool deck at meets to providing behind the scenes support for social activities. Check out the list that will be in your registration packet. Don’t hesitate to step forward! If you cannot fulfill the volunteer requirement, you will be asked to include a $150 non-volunteer fee with your registration, but we’d rather have your time.

    REGISTRATION
    Registration will be done online beginning early April. You will access the Swim Team’s web page through Tuckahoe’s web site. You can pay and fill out all the forms online. You can also register at the open house Sunday May 3rd, or at Tuckahoe on Memorial Day weekend. Registration fees per family are $65.00 for the first swimmer, $40.00 for second, and $30.00 for every additional child. Registration is essential for insurance purposes, and must be completed before your child can swim with the team. All swimmers will receive a team t-shirt and swim cap.

    REQUIREMENTS
    Must be between the ages of 5 and 18 years old. Must be able to swim 25 meters of freestyle unassisted. Must be able to take instruction and fully participate in a 60 - minute practice.

    Open House
    Sunday, May 2nd from 12:00 – 2:00 pm will be held at the indoor pool. Please come to meet the coaches, team reps, register, and find out more information about the upcoming 2009 Swim Team Season.
